Polypropylene Fibers

It is well known as the PP fibers. And the PP fiber has excellent chemical resistance to a wide range of typical solvents. PP fiber is a fantastic option for waterproof products because of its minimal moisture regain. Additionally, it is resistant to freeze-thaw weathering, resulting in a high-quality, long-lasting composition.

Polypropylene Fibers Functions

Thermal Insulation

Low thermal conductivity ensures excellent heat insulation and energy efficiency. Melting point around 176°C helps prevent spalling under fire.

Durability & Abrasion Resistance

Delivers long-lasting strength with superior resistance to wear and tear. Effectively reduce early plastic shrinkage cracks and late drying shrinkage cracks. High tensile strength (≥ 450 MPa) and the elastic modulus (≥ 3800 MPa) boost durability.

Water Resistance

Repels water effectively, making it ideal for use in humid or wet environments.

Crack Resistance Enhancement

The fibers form a network structure inside the mortar and concrete, absorbing shrinkage stress and preventing cracks. Short monofilament fibers (3 mm to 12 mm) ensure uniform micro-network.

Finding the right fiber length is critical to avoid lumping during dry-mixing and to ensure maximum reinforcement.

3mm – 6mm Fibers (For Mortar & Putty): Best for thin-layer applications like wall putty, skim coat, and joint fillers. It prevents micro-cracking without affecting the surface finish or blocking spray nozzles.

9mm – 12mm Fibers (For Plaster & Render): Ideal for thick-layer cement/gypsum plasters and repair mortars. It provides high flexural strength and excellent sag resistance on vertical surfaces.

15mm – 19mm Fibers (For Ready-Mix Concrete): Designed for industrial concrete floors, pavements, and screeds to control plastic shrinkage cracking and improve impact resistance.

Key Technical Advantages for Dry-Mix Formulators

Excellent Dispersion

Celix PP fibers undergo a special anti-static surface treatment, ensuring they disperse rapidly and uniformly within seconds of dry blending, leaving zero nests or lumps.

High Acid & Alkali Resistance

100% polypropylene polymer provides total chemical inertness, maintaining its structural reinforcement matrix inside the highly alkaline environment of Portland cement and gypsum.

High Tensile Strength

Delivers an optimized elastic modulus to absorb internal stress during the early plastic shrinkage stage of concrete curing.

FAQ

What is the standard recommended dosage of PP fibers in plaster mortar?

For standard cement-based plaster or mortar, the typical dosage is 0.6 kg to 0.9 kg per cubic meter (or approx. 1 kg per ton of dry-mix). For heavy-duty industrial floors, the dosage can be increased up to 1.5 kg per cubic meter.

Will adding polypropylene fibers affect the workability or water retention of the mortar?

PP fibers do not absorb water, so they won't alter your chemical water retention. However, due to their physical micro-mesh structure, they slightly reduce the slump/flow look. This is completely normal and can be easily balanced by combining them with Celix HPMC and PCE powder.

Can Celix provide free samples for concrete slump and crack testing?

Yes, we offer free 0.5kg trial samples of various fiber lengths (3mm, 6mm, 12mm) so your R&D lab can verify the dispersion and tensile strength performance.
